Because

We were not taking full advantage of the tools offered by React.
The codebase was messy. There were handlers for certain functionalities but not others.
Variables and functions names could be more self-explanatory.

Refactor

Better application of useEffect, useState, useMemo and useRef.
Changed the names of certain files/variables/functions, making them for descriptive.
Avoidance of direct DOM manipulation.
Made usage of js-utilities' useAutoId instead of creating our own function — more functions to be used in a future PR.
