Evaluate whether to suggest netbox-vault-secrets plugin for prod usage (requires hashicorp vault). It might also replace this plugin if hashicorp vault has an api to manage secrets. Using an already well established (ok, last commit two years ago...) plugin is better than creating your own plugin.
