Panel splitting is confusing #206

Split vertically splits horizontally , and the other way around.

This is a UX thing, or might be a simple bug.

I'd expect split vertically would create new vertical split, resulting in two panels side by side. In my mind I had a knife, and did the split in the labelled direction.

I can see the intention now, as the two resulting panels are "top and bottom", therefore are on a vertical line, and that corresponds with the "vertical split".

Simple icon would solve everything. But then everything would need an icon, wouldn't it? :)

I see where you are coming from. But to be honest, it was basically the first attempt when testing the editor which I just left in. I basically never used the menu for splitting though, after adding the "clickable split indicators": grafik Those make it pretty obvious, I think.
