YouTube Downloader no longer working at all #38

YouTube Video and Audio Downloaded (Dev Edt.) 1.1.2 Firefox 83 Xubuntu 20.04

Google made some recent changes to YouTube and the downloader stopped working in all cases that I have tried. When firing up the app, the orange overlay reports "Unable to retrieve video metadata" and stops. This was working properly up until 3-4 weeks ago.

Is this a known problem and are there plans to find a workaround?

This image shows what happens every time the Download Panel is loaded. It is consistent with all YouTube videos I have tried.

"pull request merge"?? I also don't understand this. Was it a comment intended for a different thread?

There's nothing we can do about it. Google will always oppose free YouTube video downloads.

I can get to the downloads (FF Nightly Latest) but the download fails immediately in FF Downloads.
