Just google better for 0.139 roms, they are mostly different from the other
version.
I have both Mame4droid and M4DReloaded, and I have to totally different sets of
ROMS. Both work, with their respective emulator versions, of course.

Agreed! Just search for the 0.139 roms and your problems will be solved!
Google is your friend! Or so they say

It sounds like you're missing neogeo.zip. Make sure it's the right version.

Hi, I was looking for a solution to this problem and figured it out - I'm
leaving my two cents in case someone else has the same problem I had.
First of all, I had read all the docs on this emu and I DID download the
CORRECT romset (0.139); the romset did include a neogeo.zip file, but that file
only contained a single .bin file inside it. For full compatibility with all
neo-geo roms, it should contain a whole lot more files inside (which it didn't).
I found a complete neogeo.zip here: http://rghost.net/2341022
The uploader actually ran into the EXACT same problem - he had downloaded his
romset from the same website I had downloaded mine and he figured out the
problem with the neogeo.zip he got from there.
So how did I figure it out: by mere chance, I downloaded a free NEO-GEO
emulator from google play store, and tried loading any neo-geo rom from my
MameDroid roms folder, which then yielded a FRIENDLIER error message stating
that one required .bin file (uni-bios_2_3.rom) was missing from my neogeo.zip -
the search for that specific .bin file led me straight to that website.
So maybe a friendlier error message would be more helpful in next builds??

How do you select which BIOS to run? For example, to run only the UniBIOS to
avoid the startup flashing light/green screen and startup with the UniBIOS Menu

YOU DON'T NEED SELECT THE BIOS, YOU ONLY NEED PUT THE "NEOGEO.ZIP" ROM IN THE
SAME ROM FOLDER.
