Thanks for the suggestion!

So I tried to follow the instructions at https://github.com/eclipse/openvsx/wiki/Publishing-Extensions. The first step is to create an Eclipse account at https://accounts.eclipse.org/user/register however that form seems to reject Gmail addresses:

I have emailed webmaster@eclipse.org asking for help.

In the meantime you may download and install the vsix archive directly.
