Note to self: currently crop_pl in crop.py is based on thresholding the white edges of the PL image. However, these white edges are not always supposed to be there. TODO: use another method to create the sample crop.

I did try out opencv's canny edge detection but the images were a bit too noisy and it always picked up the texture of the holder. Maybe scikit's is better at that? I'll check it out, thanks!

try on batch 15, without the red channel blowing out, now crop.py fails quite often
