Most of the time this will work as you expect but sometimes I remain stuck on that editor page and have to disable/re-enable the service to get it to work again. I just discovered that apparently invoking the Help/"publish debug info" menu action can unblock the service too.
The previous time this happened I had been using the back button to go back to the "new posts since last visit" page after replying to a thread (obviously you cannot just reload that page and expect to get the same list of new posts). Today, I had replied to a post, then decided to add a reply to another post to that same reply. So, I hit reply-with-quote, composed my reply, copied it and then wanted to go back 1 step to edit the reply I just posted and discovered I couldn't (= remained stuck).
I've only noticed that on this particular forum, and it's a relatively new behaviour.
FWIW, the "multi-quote" button also doesn't work properly: rather than just selecting each message it will open the reply editor immediately.
