Thank you @LCDraws for raising this issue!
This might be related to https://github.com/ferdium/ferdium-app/issues/93, but needs proper checking once either one of this two issues is resolved.
Workaround: switching telegram to "k version" (instead of the default "z version") seems to solve the issue for me

Expected Behavior
Badge count goes up by new messages number and stays there.
Actual Behavior
If I have focused a user's conversation on telegram (not sure if happens with other services like whatsapp) and I'm using a different service, discord for example, if the focused user on telegram sends a message, the badge count goes up but after 1 second it goes down again, as if i read the new messages that I did not read yet.
Steps to reproduce
Open telegram Go to any test user you want Tell them to send you a message Go to a different service, discord for example Stare at the telegram service icon and wait for the user to send you a message
