Setting up fitting AI behaviour is always one of the main steps to making a mission and many people simply resort to script packages. Helping out new mission makers with figuring out the many ways of doing this would be a helpful resource. But if no F3 specific code is involved in the .sqm (besides the assignGear stuff of course) I think it might be a better contribution in the form of a (BI?)wiki page.
That being said i don't know how in depth you'd want to go with these structures, maybe drag and drop becomes a handy tool with some of the more complex ones?
A suggestion: Wave assaults using the guard waypoint (that start after safe start is done).
taskPatrol seems to have issues in MP. I've often seen instances where it created hundreds of waypoints for a single group.
I've been thinking of offering a separate SQM file that contains a selection of documented AI 'patterns', including:
More ideas are out there, I'm sure. The overall benefit of the component would be to give the mission maker a whole set of off-the-peg patterns that can be duplicated and dropped into position in the mission editor.
The component itself would be a separate SQM file that can be downloaded and merged.
Thoughts?
