XML patterns and signature development can be more consistent - because XML based formats follow a lot of the same patterns, e.g. capturing quotes you always need (22|27) and you'll likely always see some sort of 78 6D 6C 6E 73 (XMLNS entry) - you can follow templates up to a point and then add custom elements which allow you to identify specific flavors.
