Maybe it would be possible to add a toggle in the settings to hide the buttons for opening the system monitor and the settings.

Reasoning:

The settings are probably not used that much once the extension has been configured to the user's desires.
Since this extension provides so much information, I personally, use the gnome system monitor in rare occasions.
It would look cleaner.
