I don't think Xash3D supports either of those systems, since it's closer to WON HL than it is to Steam HL, but I might be mistaken. Once I fix the mod system, however, it will probably be possible to mount those directories as "mods", then I'll see what I can do.
Also, I'm that afraid with the current renderer hi-def models would lag like ass. You can try them out by replacing low-def models in the valve
folder with the models from the valve_hd
folder, should you want to test performance.
Thanks for the offer, but I can't think of anything graphics-related that you could help with right now. If you find anything yourself that you could improve, feel free to make a pull request with the changes. As for translation, I'll look into that after I fix the mod system at least partially.
Well, I'd like to change the menu font to one that's more similar to Trebuchet (The original one), but I don't know about this .FNT format. I thought HL used WADs for texts. Also, the android icons look like crap when opened in an editor, but I don't think you use them.
I could make a Vita raster logo if you plan on doing some sort of custom controls window, or a replica of the old WON menu graphics.
Also, here's a quick idea: Maybe you could use the touchscreen for certain features? Like turning on and off the flashlight, for example.
Yes, I will definitely implement some sort of touch screen controls.
In the latest commit menu button rendering actually has been fixed, so Xash will now load the original menu buttons like it should if they're present in either your HL data files or in extras.pak
.
If you add controls to the touch screen, please adapt the controls for Vita TV - that is, move the functions from touch-control to L2 / R2 and L3 / R3. Also, if you use Dualshock 4 on Vita TV, the touch panel becomes available for use. Please consider this.
I'll try to do that when I get to implementing touch controls, though I don't have a PSTV.
I replace models from valve folder with models from valve_hd and... It's worked. Perfomance don't change.
Engine does support "custom" folder.
You can place modified models/sound/etc to valve/custom/, preserving folder hierarchy. So original files won't hurt and you easily can revert it back.
Thanks for testing performance. The custom
and download
folders also work fine in the Vita port.
I've put both valve_hd and valve_spanish in the custom folder.
The Spanish translation from Steam seems to work OK (No missing accented characters, voices working just like in English, graphics updated), but, of course, it's missing all of the WON content (Menu BMPs and such). I've made a full replica of the menus for myself for now, but I could do other languages as well.
As for the HD models, I was going through the Hazard Course (Via a game saved before the HD update) and the shooting area had small drops in framerate, like it was trying to load stuff. I think that didn't happen on my previous run.
Hello, guys! I installed original half-life from steam on my pc, then I installed russian patch. It added folder "valve_addon" to my installation folder of the game. I copied the content of this folder to xash3d/valve folder on my PS Vita and... It was changed only the language of game interface, but the voices are in English. What should I to change for activation of russian voices? Thanks.
Rameron Maybe yo dont transfer sound files?
Damin72 I transfered all files from the addon folder, it was approximately 100 MB of information. Are the sounds files packed in "pak0.pak" file?
Rameron Good question... Need to test myself. =/
Rameron I don't know how you translated text (because i can't do this =/), but i get russian voices. Install pack from ZoG, look "Date of Change" and just copy "new" folders to Vita/data/valve/sounds.
@Damin72 @Rameron Or you can copy the contents of valve_addon to ux0:\data\xash3d\valve\custom.
Oh, thanks. There are "sound" folder in the "pak0.pak", but steam version already have unpacked sound folder with English voice pack, so content of "pak0.pak" was ignoring by xash3d!
@IlDucci yeah, this works, but with some problem. It seems to be xash3d menu has his own file with text and translated HL-menu file doesn't affect.
The menus are untranslatable right now, only the ingame texts and menu graphics can be localized.
While the WON versions had the language content pasted on the same valve folder, the Steam version exported all of that to custom folders, like valve_hd for the HD models from Blue Shift and valve_spanish for the Spanish content (Bear in mind that there's plenty of untranslated strings in the custom "dlls" used in Xash3D).
Also, if you need some translation and graphics help, I could help a bit.
