OGN receiver: one strato is seen live but the other one is invisible #57

i just built up an OGN receiver. on both strato (firmware 140), i successfuly see the other strato on FANET neighbors menu.

but on the OGN receiver (and so on the live maps), i see one strato but not the second one, as usual the one i don't see is the same which is not updating easily.

ukeconsulting commented 3 years ago

on the pink strato NOT seen on live OGN :

on the orange one seen on live OGN,

on each device, the "broadcast name" switch seems to have no impact on the name broadcast status. i desactivated on both devices, tested several minutes, re-activated it on both devices, tested again and there was no change : the one broadcasting its name keep broadcasting all time, the one not broadcasting keep not broadcasting.

Checked both FANET and FLARM are active on the problem device? Broadcasting name and track online is active? Reset to defaults attempted? Did you check that there is a GPS fix with enough satellites (I guess at least 4)? This reception might vary.

update:

Skyhighpara commented 3 years ago

Unless you actually kept both running for almost 5 hours next to each other, I still believe the issue is related to not having a GPS fix. The receive timestamp might be linked to the GPS synchronized time, if thats faulty, you'll get neither a signal nor correct behaviour. Again, as asked before: Did you check that there is a GPS fix with enough satellites (I guess at least 4, more are better)? The reception of the 2 devices might be different.

read better my descriptions you have mainly your answers to your questions. please don't think i am stupid, you make me lose time.

Update: some time after boot, now i get the names on both devices, whereas the fanet id take about 5 min to get on the other device the names take crazy far more time.

after 2 days of tests, the pink vario is never live on https://live.glidernet.org/ the orange one is live from the begining (and at the good position on the map ;-) ). on the server log, i never saw the connection of the pink vario, only the orange one which is working great for this part.

note: for the not smart people, the both vario are exactly the same with the same configuration at the same place, they should act the same. what i do on one i do on the other in the same time.

firmware 171: still the same issue.

geolocalisation is ok on both device, the pink device is still invisible to the FANET server, the orange is visible on the FANET map. both device see each other successfully on the FANET menu.

I am starting to think that the problem is with the FLARM beacon rather than FANET, I think that glidernet is using FLARM announcements

FW242 still the same issue

i have the 2 varios ON, both of them see each other via FANET, both have a GPS fix, as the begin i see the orange vario (or) but not the pink one on https://live.glidernet.org/

on ktrax.kisstech.ch/plot?device=XXXXX i have info of the orange but the pink was never seen.

i tested in france on my own OGN receiver but in austria or hungary on public OGN receivers it is the same.

i think it is the same bug as in https://github.com/fhorinek/BB/issues/210
