Add fine-scale variation option #35

But give some models it might be hard to estimate this [in fact in binary responses the variance parameter for this is not identifiabile], then force the user to input a value for this.

With the above, I think you can estimate species-specific values for this using gam and s(1:num_sites, bs = "re", s = xxx)?
