Problem adding Namron Z-Wave Rotary Dimmer 300W #22

Hi. When trying to add a new Dimmer to my homey the app automatically only tries to remove one. See enclosed photos. If I triple press the reset button on the dimmer. It goes into inclusion mode but nothing happens in the app/Homey. I have tried resetting the Homey. I have moved it within 2m of the dimmer. Please advice.

Hi. An update in case you have time to check it out. The dimmer was working nicely up until the release and auto-update to 1.4.0. The update to 1.4.2 didn't solve the problem. It is now imossible to remove and/or add this Namron dimmer to Homey.

fiLLLip commented 4 years ago

This is very strange, as 1.4.0 shouldn't have changed anything about the rotary dimmer. Is it possible for you to force remove it from Homey from https://developer.athom.com/tools/zwave?

R0H0 commented 4 years ago

Hi. Thank you foor your reply. I'm able to see an "unknown node" in my Z-Wave network but it is unfortunately no longer possible to remove such items. I belive it was a while back but the option to remove the node is now "grayed out" and unavailable.

fiLLLip commented 4 years ago

Is it possible to try inclusion from this page? I don't have a Homey myself, so it's hard to debug these kind of issues...

R0H0 commented 4 years ago

I have been able to remove the "unknown nodes" but that didn't help. The problem is still remains trying to pair this particular device. I have been running Smart home solutions on several locations for almost 4 years but this problem puzzles me. The device just stopped working. Seemingly after the update to 1.4.0 but this could be a coincident. The dimmer has been removed from the network, reset to factory setting but simply won't pair again. I have paired several both Zigbee and Z-Wave devices over the last couple of days without problems. It's this particular device.

fiLLLip commented 4 years ago

There should be no special actions after pairing done by the app. If your setup is not too complicated, could you try to remove the app and add the device then? Just to confirm whether it's the apps fault or not.

Hi, your device is not the same as in this issue. Please create a new issue for it describing the issues and which device/manufacturer id it shows up as in the homey app

Hi. Having the same problem. Very frustrating! Any suggestions for a fix?

fiLLLip commented 4 years ago

No suggestions. As I don't have neither this device nor Homey myself, I cannot reproduce. Every integration is a lucky shot if it works or not. Elektroimportøren doesn't seem keen on providing me with samples either, so my suggestion is that someone with these devices and some coding experience give it a shot and make a PR.

I don’t have this dimmer in particular, so the following is a shot in the dark, but I experienced something similar with the rotary dimmer from Namron, that is, the app tried to remove it instead of adding it.

It got solved by

  1. factory reset the dimmer
  2. shut down the power to the dimmer (turn off the breaker switch) and back on a minute later.

I may have rebooted the Homey as well, but I don’t remember.

Thank you for your reply! Tried your tip, but it did not work. Have to ask Elektroimportøren to hire a developer to fix this or I have to make a return.

Takk så langt! :-)
