Automatic quarantine for likely spam comments/stories #44

Closed ethel-t-frog closed 6 years ago

Any story/comment containing "<a href" needs to be quarantined until approved by a moderator.

This will need us to add a "moderator" property and a moderator dashboard page.

Activity score should exclude quarantined comments.

The quarantine status should also have an "approved" state so we can exclude these from further scrutiny.

@ethel-t-frog, can you explain this just a little more? I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean.

Activity score should exclude quarantined comments.

The nightly script scans the site log to see which stories have been viewed and commented on and so on. If a comment is quarantined for containing a trigger string, it should not count towards the score for the story. We've had some stories being featured because they have had spam comments raising their activity score.

I just noticed that the activity logs need to be automatically cleaned up when a bot is quarantined. The notifications of comments still appear on my Dashboard, even though the bot and its comments have been removed.

There's a difference between quarantine and deletion. A quarantined comment is not shown on the main site but it's still stored. Once we get a UI in for moderators, they can mark a post as "approved" or "confirmed" depending on whether or not it is really spam. You will note that the dashboard does label the offending comments as "QUARANTINED"

Gotcha. That makes sense. I'll work on that as I build in the moderation tools.
