Windows Leap Motion : not retrieving data in maxpatch or app

Steps taken:

• downloaded SDK "Orion Beta" (developer kit 4.0.0: https://developer.leapmotion.com/get-started) and installed leap motion software
• downloaded leapmotion-for-max, windows version compiled against Leap Motion SDK version 2.2.6 (https://github.com/JulesFrancoise/leapmotion-for-max/releases)
• placed leapmotion object in max filepath
• copied Leap.dll file to [C: > Program Files > Cycling '74 > Max 8 > resources > support] as per leapmotion-for-max README.

Possible problem: The leapmotion for max object is compiled against Leap Motion SDK version 2.2.6, but the SDK in use was 4.0.0. Previous SDKs are available, including 2.2.6, but the leapmotion is only recognised by the computer with SDK 4.0.0.
