esites Topic 5: How to Handle Non-collection Sites [DECISION] #5

Open rondlg opened 2 years ago

rondlg commented 2 years ago

DISCUSSION POINTS: There are a number of cases where sites/places need to be associated with a catalogue record that are NOT the place of collection (which is handled in the collectionevents module). For example, zoo specimens, cultivated plants, place of manufacture.

Interim workflow: Account for Darwin Core - not show the actual zoo Existing fields in zoo tab Combination of party and sites

To handle specimens from non-wild sources and prior to updates to the (AllZooTab and AllProTab) Captive/Cultivated tab in the Catalogue you should use the appropriate No Data site attachment (See Topic 4) and also fill in the party record for the zoo/aquarium/botanic gardens.

DECISION(S): PENDING DEVELOPMENT

TBD - Add new MV esites attachment to the Provenience table on the AllProTab with Type. Document workflow, post-development

Interim workflow for zoo site records:

Pre-dev: Move the term zoo out of the country field into the LocVerbatimLocality field AND the LocPreciseLocation field. Move LocLocalityRemarks to Notes with Kind = Provenience

Post esites dev: PolLocality = value in LocVerbatimLocality PolPoliticalRank = “Precise Locality” LocPreciseLocation = value in LocVerbatimLocality LocVerbatimLocality → DarLocality instead of using the DarCountry

You may set a parent at whatever level you are comfortable (continent, country etc.) or leave it blank

Post ecatalogue dev:

Use the new provenience/cultivated workflow Move data for zoo records with NoteKind = Provenience to the new structure
