DISCUSSION POINTS:

The mineral and meteorite collections use a hierarchy to classify the makeup of their specimens in a similar way to the biological collections. Can we use the existing fields to handle this or do they need new ones that are separate?

For Code=Minerals

The hierarchy is:

• Superclass - ClaSuperclass
• • Class - ClaClass [eg Chondrite, Achondrite]
• • • Clan - NEW FIELD [eg OC, Carbonaceous]
• • • • Group - NEW FIELD [eg L, LL, H, EL, EH]
• • • • • Petrologic Type - NEW FIELD [3, 4, 7, 5]

Value - NEW FIELD : Concatenate the Group+Petrologic [eg L3, H4]
