eparties Topic 12: Status Brief Name (NamBriefName) after development [BOTANY] #71

DISCUSSION POINTS:

For Botany Brief Name is displayed in other modules/fields will this be the case after standardisation?

Nancy Hensold 27 Oct 2018 Botany, did this get decided? Do you want BriefName to display in Catalog fields? Currently BriefName (not FullName) displays in Collector, Identified By, & Summary string, for catalog records. This seems good to me. @kwebbink@fieldmuseum.org @jjones@fieldmuseum.org @mkonrat@fieldmuseum.org @cniezgoda@fieldmuseum.org @wgaswick@fieldmuseum.org Nancy Hensold 15 Nov 2018 ? Wyatt Gaswick 15 Nov 2018 We have decided that we should move to using NamFullName in most fields to avoid confusion...in catalogue's Collector, Identified By, Note-attributed-to. But we'd like to keep Brief Name in the summary line. (documenting these now in eCatalogue) Wyatt Gaswick 15 Nov 2018 [edited to add: if NamFullName is blank, can it these fields instead show NamBriefName?]

DECISION(S):

Botany to provide a list of fields/module where Brief Name should show, otherwise Use NamFullName. This will need to be addressed/implemented in other modules [see ecatalogue, ebibliography, efmnhtransactions].

Kate Webbink - Can we check search criteria in parties-attachment fields in these 3 modules (cat, biblio, transac) to make sure it isn't filtering out briefname-searches if party record is set to "no" for automatic / derived

rondlg commented 2 years ago

Janeen Jones - If the fields defined to use in those modules are not filled in either automatically or manually, they will not fill in or be searchable, however, you can open the parties record through the modules to the correct record (with the blue arrow button) even though you won't be able to see any text in the record.
