Feedback from rwilke: On the main page can a header/section dealing with Licensing and Copyright for the media assets be added? In my opinion information about licensing is buried now in the Browse Museum Media and in the Field Museum Photo Archives sections. It should be the place that contains licensing and copyright information for all

  1. The new section should contain a formal statement on the Field Museum Licensing and Copyright policy.

    • Archives CONTENTdm website has this statement in the Rights field of a record. (Example: Blackbuck Group)
      • "Use of the digital images found in the Field Museum Library Digital Collections is permitted for educational and research purposes only. This material may be protected by U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S. Code). Researchers are responsible for determining whether the material is in the public domain or whether it is protected by copyright law or other restrictions. If the material is protected by copyright law, researchers are responsible for determining whether the intended use is within the limits of fair use."
  2. If the section is created, a link to the preferred citation website should be added

    • Currently preferred citation website does not include Photo Archives preferred citation. Can the Photo Archives preferred citation be added?
      • "Courtesy, Field Museum Photo Archives ID#"
    • Since this portal is for all Field Museum assets and each department has different ways for asking patrons to do different citations it is important that users have something to reference.
  3. If the section is created an email address or request form to use of high-res images or for further questions/technical difficulties can be added

  4. If a form is created can the information from the request form be entered/stored into EMu automatically so no one has to enter the information by hand? (Automatically will cut down on processing time and possible mistyping information.)

  5. If there is a Licensing and Copyright header/section I would suggest removing the Photo Archives header which is a link to the Field Museum Photo Archives webpage

    • The link to website does not have a lot of information (besides knowing who works in Photo Archives)
      • If other Field Museum department media assets are going to be on the portal, if patron have questions on non Photo Archives material they would reach out to Photo Archives with permission and questions that Photo Archives cannot fill or answer.
    • If a Licensing and Copyright header/section is added some of the information would be redundant
