I think there needs to be a distinction of what NetX (external site) is and does.
- I say this because I notice especially with photos of Zoological specimens more fields appear (example: Taxon coverage, Related Geography, and Sex fields) I worry the focus is being less on finding and describing the media assets With having Associated Specimens field; the Taxon coverage, Related Geography, and Sex fields all become redundant. The link can take the patron to the actual specimen record with all that information and more Is there a list of set of fields that will appear on the NetX (external site)? I notice fields appear most of the time if there is data in the field, but I would like to see the list of all fields that will appear.

- IRN (near bottom)
- Citation (near bottom ?)

I think there should be defined fields that will appear (if they have data) -- Once that is established, the order of how fields appear can be establish

Q1: Can the Citation field be removed?

Because that citation appears nowhere in the Preferred Citation website.

Instead:

Put a link to the Preferred Citation website

Create a link to the Copyright and Licensing section,

Or create a generic message (something similar to Archives CONTENTdm website for an individual record/like the one I mentioned earlier)

Q2: Can the name field be put at the very bottom? Only a computer will care about that field, not the user.

A2: Yes - fields are now re-ordered, with dc:identifier and other technical fields lower down the list on record-detail pages (e.g. https://dams.fieldmuseum.tech/portals/museum-media/#asset/1974937 ).

Q3: Could the Other Number field and Other Number Source Field appear as a block?

So Photo Archives ID# (Other Number Source) is next to the number (Other Number).

For example:

Photo Archives ID No.: CSZ29277 .

FMNH Catalogue Number: 41410 | 41411.

It might not be confusing for internal users but it is not the same for external users._

A3: NetX can't currently do blocks/tables, but we could split out the Photo Archives # as its own field. This may take some time to update, but will start prepping it.

Q4: I found one record that does not show the Photo Archives ID No.:

However, in the EMu record there is a Photo Archives ID# Z94226_6c

I am not sure if the test portal is using old data.

A4: The test portal is an old snapshot (mostly from early 2023). Check / trust the live DAMS. For issues with missing data in the live DAMS, please see What to do if find a NetX asset with data that doesn’t match EMu?

Q5: Can the Subject field be in the record too?

Through those terms, can user click on the terms and be taken to other results of media assets that have the same Subject Term?

Can that be done with the Creator/photographer field?

re:clickable terms: NetX portal fields don't currently have that functionality from the in-house dams

Creator/photographer (from issue https://github.com/fieldmuseum/dams-netx/issues/39#issuecomment-2312789097) is currently a 'text' field in NetX (rather than a filterable 'tag') because there are >1000 different unique Creator values -- even filtered where role = Photographer -- as well as combinations where multiple creators exist for a given media record. Indexing/maintaining this may have a big impact on resources/memory-use in NetX, but we can investigate in dams-test.
- Cleaning up/merging duplicate Parties will also help set up for converting this to a filter-able field.

Q6: I am not sure if Security Department is needed on the record?

I know it is used by internal users to help seek permission on photos that are not on internet by contacting the department for permission.

If the photos are on internet/portal I think the Licensing and Copyright purposed section takes care of this

A6: It's on record-detail pages to align with in-house DAMS, and as reference for external users submitting an image-licensing form

Q7: Can the file type, file size, and dimension be lowered toward the bottom of the field rankings?
