I did not write that FAQ but suspect that the sentence refers to "what can you do with the currently provided code in FT (which is limited)" versus what can you implement yourself in a statfun. I agree that the sentence is not needed.

Thanks for getting back quickly! Just the statement “with only a single between-subjects factor” contradicts that there is subsequently an example for a 2 x 2 purely within-participants design. So the currently provided code in FT seems to allow testing a design without a between-subjects factor. But perhaps I’m wrong.
