Reduce load times #52

This fixes #46 but don't blindly merge it. This is a heavy image optimisation pass and it may have unexpected visual effects. Check how the whole site renders carefully before merging this to main.

Also note that updating any PNG or JPEG file in the site after this merge will reverse the effects of this change, so create a separate issue to optimise any images created after this.

I have visually reviewed all images on a MacBook Pro with retina screen and it looks flawless to me.
