Update Python Notebooks to reflect API changes #66

This commit makes small adjustments to each notebook so that they function with the current API.

FYI: My goal is to include support for executing Jupyter notebooks on the CI via the travis-build.sh script; see here. It is not fully working yet, but the idea is to use nbconvert --execute to make sure all cells execute successfully. Hopefully this will help to catch errors with the notebooks sooner in future.
