Hey all, I'd like to talk about the FIPs repo website, including a call for features / design / collabs on it. Probably related is seeing if we can get a Discourse forum for long form discussion like Ethereum Discussions / Eth Research too.

If people have specific design etc desires, we'll use this fork to work on that https://github.com/application-research/FIPs

If time permits, talking a bit about FIL accounts / support for dapp signin and an onchain vesting contract.

Thanks for flagging these, @bmann! These are definitely open issues, but I believe they should exist in a different forum. The Core Devs call is pretty narrowly focused on technical topics specifically related to workflow and update planning for the implementations.

From my perspective, here are a few updates/thoughts on each of the topics you've raised:

  1. FIPs Website - the most pressing need here is finding a subdomain home, and clarifying what materials ought to exist on this page. This is becoming enfolded in larger questions about resources, ease of access, and ownership, as both Protocol Labs and Filecoin Foundation are undergoing internal reorgs to improve materials and process clarity. I'll try and connect with @andyschwab in the next week so we can devise a path forward.

In regards to design standards, I think you should absolutely crowd-source! It would be cool to see what results. Perhaps posting across the various Slack channels? If interested, we could also try and get whatever post you write up translated for the different regional channels!

  1. Discourse Forum - the Foundation is currently in the process of hiring a community manager to help manage this kind of work. As you know, community building is very challenging, and we are working to make sure we have the capacity to triage requests, clarify each community channel's use-case, publicize the community, permalink appropriate resources, keep these resources updated, and ensure that actionable discussion posts (e.g., FIP topics) get where they need to be.

We've had different forums in the past which have died out, and we want to make sure any new effort has the support needed to be successful. So, consider this in-progress!

  1. Support for dApp Sign-On and On-Chain Vesting Contracts Yes! We can add this to the agenda. What may be helpful is a specific proposal, need, or use-case. Since the agenda for this meeting is quite tight, it would be great to broach this topic with a specific focus. Depending on how the conversation progresses, we can dedicate more time to the topic in future weeks, or identify the proper channel to move forward. I also get the feeling that you have a specific idea about how the team should begin to address dApp integrations...should we perhaps just move forward with opening up a FIP discussion?

@kaitlin-beegle yep, consider the vesting and dapp sign on to just be a "hello, we intend to kick off broader discussion and write up FIPs"
