So much for windows security lol
@Josh-65 we don't plan to add artificial limitations for accessing the file system, the only time we will prevent access is if Windows returns an unauthorized exception. Can you open an issue on the Feedback Hub regarding the group policy?
My feedback hub doesnt work. Could you add it? please.
Also since Microsoft not really good at accepting feedback most of the time, I feel an exception should be made in this case. if it doesnt get resolved by them.
Josh what happens if you try to navigate to that drive with that user account using CMD? I think that group policy may really be intended only for explorer. Could you try changing drive's security properties instead?
I have tried that before an ended up destroying my windows install. Blocking it with security permistion stops the account logging in and other issues with programs. That what the group policy is designed for i belive to block users from opening it so they carnt mess with the files but allow the system to log in, open programs from it using shortcuts and other things.
According to windows doc on it. they stop file exploer, run window, startmenu and open dialogs https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/group-policy/using-group-policy-objects-hide-specified-drives#:~:text=These%20settings%20remove%20the%20icons%20representing%20the%20selected%20hard%20disks%20from%20My%20Computer%2C%20Windows%20Explorer%2C%20and%20My%20Network%20Places.%20Also%2C%20these%20drives%20do%20not%20appear%20in%20the%20Open%20dialog%20box%20of%20any%20programs.
