Can't move or resize a Telegram app window #42

Open emyller opened 1 year ago

The official Telegram app window is unresponsive to Hummingbird's amazing functionality.

Also when I forget about it and try to move or resize Telegram's window, Hummingbird ends up moving or resizing another app's window that was last focused.

Let me know how I can help.

Thanks for the bug report, @emyller . I can confirm the problem. Telegram appears "transparent" to Hummingbird and you end up acting on the window that's behind it.

Unfortunately, there's very little I can offer except the following workaround: the Telegram window's title bar is not transparent to Hummingbird. If you hover you mouse over it, Hummingbird's modifiers let you move and resize the window as usual. That by itself is only mildly helpful but what's more is that - at least for me - once you've acted on the window via its title bar the whole window becomes opaque to Hummingbird and it works as expected, until you relaunch Telegram.

I hope that helps a little!

Thanks for the workaround! It helps.

I wonder what can be done in order to improve it. Perhaps a bug report to the Telegram team? I don't think I know enough of desktop app development to write something useful.

I'd appreciate some help, or I can just create an issue for them with a mention to this one — if that makes sense.

Again, thank you.

P.S. Feel free to close the issue.

If you know of a place to report this to the Telegram team that would be good, although I'm not sure much will come of it. This is likely related to the underlying technology they're using to power the app - something they're unlikely to change unless they re-write it or re-launch it based on their iOS app via Catalyst.

WhatsApp have done that recently and their app works with Hummingbird on macOS.

One can only hope 😅
