Call for Projects/Proposals - Grace Hopper Celebration, and Open Source Day 2024 #31

The 2024 Grace Hopper Celebration and Open Source Day will be held October 8-11, 2024, in Philadelphia. For FINOS to have an impact at the conference and for DEI we would like to encourage presentations and panel discussions on FINOS topics, and submit FINOS open source projects (such as the Accessibility Theme Builder) to be featured during Open Source Day.

Details and information on how to submit abstracts/project proposals can be found here: https://ghc.anitab.org/

@PaulaPaul will be co-chairing Open Source Day, and would like to work with the DEI SIG to submit an abstract to showcase FINOS projects. That way each individual/interested project can be recognized and build community without having to submit separate abstracts. The abstract would be from a member of the DEI SIG, supported by the TOC and project maintainers.

The FINOS DEI SIG could also support this by:

@beekemarie - can you assign this issue to me or add me as a contributor to the DEI-SIG repo so that I can tag and self-assign if appropriate?

GHC 2024 prospectus for potential sponsorship, co located events, etc. Investment is not required in order to submit abstracts for Open Source Day or sessions during the conference, but a co-located Big Boost Monday in Philadelphia could be worthwhile and seen as a joint investment by several FINOS member companies plus Zingly

@PaulaPaul and rita.chaturvedi@morganstanley.com are in discussion on having a FINOS abstract for Open Source Day, where the DEI-SIG could present all FINOS projects and encourage attendees to engage and have hands on experience.

Two abstracts were submitted - one for a panel at the main conference, by @Perelmuter, and one for an open source day track by Lise Nobel!

A separate issue has been opened to track decisions and work for having a FINOS presence at the conference.
