For more than 7 years now, there were very few issues reported on FTP/FTPS features. The feeling is that very few people use FTP to sync files. And probably because of good reasons:
scp and ssh is shipped with many Linux distros, users just have to configure it,
ssh is inherently more secure than FTPS
commercial versions of IntelliJ, PyCharm and others already have support for FTP and FTPS through Deployment tool.
The effort for supporting and improving these two features could be shifted elsewhere in the plugin where it can make a larger contribution. Thus I'm proposing the removal of these two features in one of the next releases and I'm interested in feedback:
is anyone using FTP/FTPS?
what stops you to migrate towards SCP/SSH?
what value does Sourcesync FTP/FTPS add over IntelliJ's own Deployment tool?
any other reason these two features should remain alive in Sourcesync?
