Some covers not showing #17

FINALLY got a chance to try the new version. I know, I suck. I'm sorry... I moved twice since you released 1.1 lol..

DarkThumbs works freaking fantastically now. It is SO cool to see all my eBooks show up with covers. I have ZERO complaints. Just wanted to throw some books with no covers showing so you could troubleshoot why the current version does not see them.

Really not a big deal. Just thought if you wanted to look into it, I think it would be a pretty easy fix. All but 1 have the covers in the same folder.

No worries, real life interferes all the time :-)

Thanx for the files!

Here's what I see with Windows 10, Darkthumbs V1.3 :

Screenshot from 2021-10-03 13-17-07

The only one which looks wrong is "Hope Takes Flight", and that's probably due to conflicting / missing metadata info. So I can chase that one down.

Let me know if you're getting different results and what version of Windows etc.

Shrug lol Idk. Weird yours works and mine does not. I am running v1.3. Maybe it is a cache issue. If yours is working, it is a "my pc" issue. so... Not an issue.

Hmmm, looks like you've got another thumbnail generator installed. That book/magnifier icon isn't coming from DarkThumbs [or the epub files].

In the case of multiple thumbnail generators, I don't know which one "wins".

A feature of the DarkThumbs manager which I wan't originally aware of: checking on/off any of the "File types" options will try to force a rebuild of the icon cache.

lol didn't realize the exe and install folder are still set as \CBXShell\CBXManager.exe lol. No wonder I could not find DarkThumbs lol.

Ok, so ran Disk Cleanup, told it to delete Thumbnail Cache. Restarted. No good, cleared it again, no good. Noticed I had SageThumbs installed (Does not work for ePubs). I cleared its cache anyways. no good. Renamed the files in the folder, no good. Copied a different ePub file to the same folder, it generated a thumbnail. Checked and unchecked multiple associations in DarkThumbs. No good.

Also, I just noticed your comment "That book/magnifier icon isn't coming from DarkThumbs [or the epub files].". You are correct it's not DarkThumbs or ePubs. It is a file association icon. I have Calibre installed and ePubs open with it for as a viewer.

Like how files associated with Acrobat have a PDF icon. etc. It's not a generated thumbnail, it's an icon that is a placeholder when there is no thumbnail.

Understood. I'll install Calibre on my test box and try to reproduce.

I've tried a few combinations of DarkThumbs V1.3 and Calibre 5.28.0 and haven't reproduced the situation as reported.

I.e. I installed Calibre then Darkthumbs; DarkThumbs then Calibre; uninstalled Calibre.

A couple of times, Explorer was in a state where the Calibre icon was displayed for the files in question. However, each time I did a right-click in Explorer, selected "Refresh", and the DarkThumbs covers appeared.

Kind of stuck on this. If any new data or ideas come up, please let me know.
