Hi, I have several CUDA cards, CPUs and Operating systems, eg 1070, i7, i3, Windows 10, Windows Server 2016, Ubuntu 16.04. I didnt mine Monero for a couple of months, was on equihash. Returning to xmr-stak-gpu from the older days, as well as new compiles of xmr-stak, I seem to be crashing while working on the first GPU share. Obviously the drivers were updated several times since I was running OK, and of course now suffering from the semi-toxic Spectre patches both on Win and Linux. In fact even a ccminer seems to be crashing at the same point, here's is me crashing on my GT 940m, Ubuntu

[CUDA] Error gpu 0: </home/info/xmr-stak/xmrstak/backend/nvidia/nvcc_code/cuda_extra.cu>:265 terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error' what(): [CUDA] Error: the launch timed out and was terminated Aborted (core dumped)

I think GT 940m does'nt support CUDA 6

Well, 940mx. Whatever it supports, it runs all my other miners and did not complain installing Cuda 9.1 . The suspicious part is that I can't mine moner anywhere!

reduce the number of threads, try to half the value.
