AMD Vega mining broken on Adrenaline 18.8.1 driver #1798

Open unsivilaudio opened 5 years ago

unsivilaudio commented 5 years ago

Using the latest drivers available, all results are returned invalid. Cpu mining works fine. Looking for confirmation I'm not going crazy here.

Stability issue

BKdilse commented 5 years ago

I'm seeing this too, just rolling back driver for now.

unsivilaudio commented 5 years ago

Let me know if that solves the issue, I don't have time to troubleshoot it right now.

BKdilse commented 5 years ago

I can confirm, rolling back to 18.5.1 drivers solves the issue.

unsivilaudio commented 5 years ago

Hmm...DDU'd and re-installed 18.5.1 drivers, same result. edit: deleted opencl cache files and it works again

BKdilse commented 5 years ago

I did same, plus removed and opencl cache, and the usual reg settings for clocking etc.

psychocrypt commented 5 years ago

1797 is a equal problem with the rocm driver. The new driver 18.x and

rockm using the same HSA infrastruture. IMA the OpenCL compiler is fully broken. note: I tested currently only linux.

Spudz76 commented 5 years ago

Use old driver that worked, KEEP .openclcache and install new driver, don't change any settings in amd.txt after that, rename working .openclcache file to whatever the new one looks for (hash might change) and it will work. Broken new OpenCL compiler, not exactly broken driver, so by forcing the binaries from the old compiler into the new driver's digital butthole, it does what we want. Until the other issue irons out... or run the driver that worked and stop upgrading, it's never faster for the simple few ops we even use out of the OpenCL universe.
