The validation comparisons for CFAST, included in the verification and validation guide, includes results for compartments from normal residential-sized compartments to more than 100 000 m^3. The old text on compartment size in the technical reference guide was never meant as a hard limit, but rather just a statement of the wide range of applicability of the model. It caused enough confusion that it was removed from the guide.
It is up to the user to judge the applicability of the model to any given problem. Table 4.13 in the V&V guide quantifies the breadth of experiments that the model has been compared to.
Hi,
We noted that the compartment dimension limits (Table 3.2 in CFAST – Consolidated Model of Fire Growth and Smoke Transport (Version 6) Technical Reference Guide ) have been removed in Version 7 Technical Reference Guide.
Can i check if there's no compartment size and aspect ratio limitation for CFAST Version 7?
