Roshanjossey commented 6 years ago

@ShyamSundarShankar, sure

khusi-anu commented 6 years ago

Hi @Roshanjossey, I want to work on Translations to Bengali (Language of West Bengal, India). Can I?

Roshanjossey commented 6 years ago

Hi @khusi-anu, thank you for our interest in taking it up.

We have a Bengali translation. https://github.com/firstcontributions/first-contributions/blob/master/translations/README.bn.md

However, from what I understand, this is closer to Bangla used in Bangladesh. Could you please go through this to see if Bengalis can understand this? If so, let's change the link of Indian translations to show multiple Indian languages. We have Tamil in the pipeline too. I feel this would be better than linking it to only Hindi.

khusi-anu commented 6 years ago

@Roshanjossey Yes, it's the same. I would like to link the Indian translations to show multiple Indian languages.

Roshanjossey commented 6 years ago

@khusi-anu, sure. Please work on the same. You can change the link from Indian flag to point to Translations.md. In translations.md, you can put another link under hindi translation to point to Bengali translation.

@mmelisew, start with understanding the workflow first. Go through the tutorial. Do it. It'll help you translate this well.

Once you've done that, make another branch, read Readme.md and translate it to Amharic. Then, submit a pull request with your changes. I'll review it and suggest changes if required.

You'll have a better understanding of the whole process when you do the tutorial.

mmelisew commented 5 years ago

Thank you so much! I will do that.

Hello. I am new to GitHub. I have been done with many small projects for first-contributor. Now I feel like it is time for me to take a step into a bigger project. I found this issue is kinda interesting. I am originally from Cambodia and my language is Khmer. I would like to add make a translation for Cambodian but to be honest I don't know what file should I edit for translation or do I have to create a new file and upload to translation folder. I would love to help.

sodaney commented 5 years ago

I just added Khmer translation. #14976

gabrielBusta commented 5 years ago

@Roshanjossey do you reckon it would be useful to add translations to the UI tools tutorials? (I can translate them into Spanish)

SophieYoonseo commented 5 years ago

@Roshanjossey Hello! I read your issues. Can I contribute to your project? I wanna translate your tutorial into Korean. Please give me your answer :)

Tsumagari commented 5 years ago

Hello! I have updated README.ja.md by adding the table of "tutorials using other tools". Could I submit a pull request? One more, I noticed that some translated files of additional materials aren't linked by first README files of their languages. In addition, these files translated in different languages are in the same folder (/additional-materials/translations), so I want to organize these files. Could I make folders of each language, put files into them respectively, and fix links? I'm new to contribute to open source, sorry if I've made some mistake...

Roshanjossey commented 5 years ago

@sodaney , I've reviewed your PR please check the comments.

@kodemonster ,@ABGEO07, @TomasRoj, @SophieYoonseo, we already have the translation you mentioned. Please check if it is up to date with English translation.

You'll find links to all translations here https://github.com/firstcontributions/first-contributions/blob/master/translations/Translations.md

@Tsumagari , I'm in for the changes you suggested. Before jumping in, lets discuss further about how we'll do this. Please open another issue for this so that we can discuss it in detail. Don't worry about making mistakes. We'll help you out and help you learn from mistakes.

Take a look at our CONTRIBUTING file where we have information about whom you should get reviews from when you submit changes for translations
