"Manage media" shows wrong message "There are no links to this media object" #4661

There is a media file shown in the list presented in control panel "Manage media". It is the third in this list with the file name "places/images/Alt-Ennetach.jpg". The message "There are no links to this media object" is wrong, because the file is used in the media object with the XREF "M1674", which is used in a shared location record (_LOC) with the XREF "L43477". This issue still exists. In the lists/media objects you see the usage within a _LOC, but the control panel states a "there are no links to this media object"

v2.1.19 : I don't know if this is the same issue but it seems like data isn't linked somewhere.

Manage Media says this image is "Unused"

But it is definitely linked with an Individual as seen in three other places: Individual profile, Media for Individual, and under the image in Media List there is a link to the Individual.

( Kinda stupid to blur out my name and face in these screenshots when my name and face are all over GitHub and this page. Whatever ... 🤣 )

Unlikely. More likely you have two copies of that image in your /data/media folder.

Perhaps one in /data/media/people and one in /data/media/media/people

fisharebest commented 6 months ago

In the tree preferences, change the media folder to something other than media/. Save. Then change back.

Does this help?

TonyGravagno commented 6 months ago

Just coming back to this application ... As seen in the screenshot, the folder is already media/people, but as time permits I will move everything to a different folder and then back and see what happens. Thanks.

fisharebest commented 6 months ago

You don't need to move things to a different folder.

Just change the config setting, save, change it back, save.
