Feature: Update "Last change" Value After Raw Edit #4920

I'd like the option to have webtrees automatically revise the "Last change" data when I perform raw edits.

I do a lot of raw editing, and the last change values become stale as a result.

This is not my area of expertise so put me right by all means but when you do your raw edit, can you not also update the last change date manually at the same time?

miqrogroove commented 6 months ago

@photon-flip I'm not sure if I understand that question. I'm requesting an automatic date updater, and you're asking if I can also update it manually? The answer to that would be, I have no idea because I would never waste any effort trying to manually edit "Last change" values.

Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant by "raw editing". I was assuming that's a manual edit through the webtrees "edit - Edit the raw GEDCOM" dialogue. What I was suggesting was a workaround rather than a fulfillment of you feature request for an automatic updater. If you're bulk editing outside webtrees or with search and replace then my suggestion may be less useful. It was intended as a helpful suggestion so feel free to ignore it and good luck with your request.

I guess I can clarify this slightly. I'm using the edit-raw page at the individual or family level, not the fact or source level. For those top level records, the CHAN tag is displayed and editable, but I'd prefer if webtrees would update that automatically, even if I have to tick a box somewhere.
