Unable to reference user defined measures #102

Open fishbaugher opened 6 months ago

fishbaugher commented 6 months ago

So I have completed transferring our supply library over, and I peeked at getting into our user defined measures. I created a new measure library but it won't let me use the new supply library I have created. It is clicked as active but it says that it isn't shared. Any incites would be greatly appreciated.

Can you take a screenshot and post it?

fishbaugher commented 6 months ago

I was able to make it work.. I got myself an SP07 agency administrator logon, then was able to open a Lakes and Pines audit and select the Defined Measure library.

After selecting the library, the reference count updated as expected:

If the issue is in the defined measures library specifically, did you select your supply library in the top right pull down menu? I see in the second screenshot that there isn't a supply library currently selected.

duel888 commented 6 months ago

The issue is with linking my created supply library to the user defined measures library. I can't select it from the option at the top right. Screenshot 2024-05-15 101501

joe-shade commented 6 months ago

Try making the supply library inactive and see if it pops into the defined measures pull down list

joe-shade commented 6 months ago

You can reactivate after it has been selected in the list

duel888 commented 6 months ago

Just tried that and nothing changed

I just tried it in my database, and it did not show up in the defined measures tab until I did the following with the SUPPLY library: 1) checked the active button, then hit apply 2) unchecked the active button, then hit apply

After that it would show up in the defined measures pull down menu either way

I watched your video, and that looks like what I was doing; so I tried some stuff. Making a new supply library, I couldn't get it to work, but the COPY of the new supply library showed up right away. Try making a copy and see if that shows up.

joe-shade commented 6 months ago

If it works, you have to delete the original and then you can rename the working one.

duel888 commented 6 months ago

This didn't work for me either...I even tried to make a copy of the user defined measure library and trying the different combinations to make it come up. It's not permissions related is it?

You have to be a lead auditor or agency administrator to edit libraries.

joe-shade commented 6 months ago

When you make the copy / new SUPPLY library, is the active box checked? It needs to be checked when the supply library gets created.

duel888 commented 6 months ago

I'm an agency administrator so that shouldn't be an issue then. And yes clicking active and the various combinations of doing so I have been doing since I ran into the issue originally.

This is what i'm talking about

duel888 commented 6 months ago

I just tried again and after clicking active/apply, checking, clicking inactive/apply, checking, clicking active/apply, checking, and then clicking unactive/apply, I checked and I finally have it!! Have deleted the old one, renamed the copy, and it updates accordingly within the user defined measures library.

Must be a bug but I hope this is useful for the future. Thank you so much for your help

duel888 commented 6 months ago

This is what I did for the previous step you explained, but maybe just doing it over and over until it finally works is the answer for now???

joe-shade commented 6 months ago

I think it is directly related to whether or not the supply library is deemed active when it is created/copied. It was consistent for me that if the supply library IS NOT active when the supply library is created, it wouldn't show up in user defined measures. If the supply library IS active when the supply library is created, it would show up. Definitely not working as intended. Glad it's working for you!

duel888 commented 6 months ago

Thanks again

eckmanwe commented 6 months ago

Sorry to ask for more on this, but let me see if I can summarize and please confirm: 1) Supply Library is inactive when the Defined Measure Library is created 2) Inactive Supply Library is not available for selection on the Defined Measure Library form (expected) 3) Subject Supply Library is ctivated 4) Subject Supply Library is still not available for selection on the Defined Measure Library form (unexpected) 5) However, after multiple deactivation/activation cycles, the subject Supply Library does become available on the Defined Measure Library form (correct?)

Sorry, I had a little trouble following the discussion.

joe-shade commented 6 months ago

From what I have experienced, the creation of the defined measures library is not involved with this issue.

I think the issue from a coding standpoint is that when a supply library is inactive at the time of creation, it takes the flipping back and forth to get it to be recognized by the defined measures pull down menu.

If you make a copy of that same supply library but check the active box when the copy is created, then the defined measures pull down menu will recognize it.

If the supply library was checked active at the time of creation, it will work as intended.

So the root issue is toggling from the originally inactive supply library to an active supply library being recognized by the defined measures library pull down menu as active.

joe-shade commented 6 months ago

I could see a short term fix of requiring all new supply libraries to be active when created (copy or new) until the details can get sorted out.

fishbaugher commented 6 months ago

Here are some test results that may help:

1) I made a copy of the "L&P-Supply Library 2024-5-14" Supply Library. I gave it a new name "L&P-Supply Library 2024-5-16 MJF Copy" AND I cleared the Active flag, then pressed Apply.

2) I went to the Defined Measures library "L & P Measures Library - 7-1-2023" and drop the selector for Supply Library. The newly copied Supply Library did not appear in the list (expected due to inactive status)

3) I navigated back to the Supply Library "L&P-Supply Library 2024-5-16 MJF Copy", and the active flag on the form was checked (unexpected since I had cleared the flag earlier before pressing Apply). Now that the active flag appears, I navigated back to Defined Measures and the new Supply Library copy does not appear in the list.

4) I also navigated to a NEAT Audit and dropped the Supply Library selector, and again the new Supply Library copy did not appear.

5) I navigated back to the Supply Library copy and cleared Active/Apply then set Active/Apply -- then navigated to Defined Measure and still the new Supply Library copy does not appear.

6) I logged out, then back in with Agency Administrator account. Still the Supply Library copy (with Active flag checked) does not appear in the Defined Measure nor the NEAT Supply Librart drop down (unexpected).

fishbaugher commented 6 months ago

Conclusions after more testing with multiple copies of the Supply Library:

1) If a Supply Library Copy is made, renamed, and the Active flag UNSET, when you press the Apply button, the Supply Library will be saved WITH the Active flag set to Yes, BUT this record will never appear in a drop list regardless of subsequent clear/set changes to the active flag or UI resets with a forced re-logon.

2) If a Supply Library Copy is made, renamed, and the Active flag is SET, then the record doe not appear immediately in the Defined Measure drop list (if the form as been previously visited) BUT the new Supply Library WILL appear in the drop list after a UI reset with a re-logon.

Thus there appear to be two problems: 1) There is some issue that makes Supply Library records created as in-active unable to change status to active/visible and 2) Some Define Measure:Supply Library dropdown sync issue after a new, valid, active Supply Library record has been added.
