Code dump on game install #128

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Click add game button
2. Insert game (tried Medal of Honour 2 and Ghost Squad)
3. Install starts, but wait a bit and code dump occurs.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected game to install - instead code dump
May be able to get picture of dump if required

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
rc1 update1

Please provide any additional information below.

I thought it was fixed in rc1 update1, dev please confirm.
Yes a picture of the dump would be nice, or just copy the STACKDUMP XXXXX ->
XXXXX
->... (they are max 10), thanks!

Yeah; i know i've installed games with rc1 udpate1 and it worked fine.

r323 fixed an issue with a crash AFTER game install... can't remember if that
made it
into rc1 up1 though.

On a good note, Wii Sports managed to install.

Trying Medal of Honour 2 again and the stackdump is
80a66f78 -> 80a66f64 -> 80a074f8 -> 80a66f64 -> 80a074f8 -> 80a66fd0 ->
80a074f8 ->
80a66fbc -> 80a074f8

I'm guessing the first 2 characters of addresses 1,5 and 9, as they're cut off
by my
television

#2 comment might be correct, as I haven't watched the install carefully. I'll
try
again with Ghost Squad and see what happens exactly.

Just to confirm that the crash does happen after install. Reason I thought
during
install was because I never saw the "Game installed" message on previous
crashes, and
the game isn't in the list after a reboot. Apologies.

Any way to get a dol of r323 or later to check?

RC1 UP1 was built back against r312... so it definitely wouldn't work yet :)

Can anyone build and post a new RC? (We should really do an RC2 now...)

If no one can do it; I'll have a chance in about 7 hours or so

New one would be very much appreciated - its a big bug, and RC1update1 has been
downloaded about 1600 times!

This should be marked as a duplicate of #110 when someone has the chance.

That version has a different error.

This is what happens:
1. Click add game button
2. Put disk in as requested, click ok
3. The progress bar screen appears, then disappears instantly
4. Says game is installed
5. List now contains a nameless title, with size 0gb

Tried 3 games on 2 different wii's, same results. No dump though! :-)

were the games already installed?

Original comment by justin.h...@gmail.com on 20 May 2009 at 11:07

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
No, on the first Wii they were the ones I've tried before but encountered
errors, but
the second Wii was a brand new coverfloader/wiicoverflow install with a freshly
formatted WBFS drive.

Why turning of wiilight should fix this issue?
