Fail invocations quickly for an invalid workflow #248

As mentioned by #144 - currently invocations of invalid/non-ready workflows do not fail immediately or with a clear cause.

So far, I added a minimal example reproducing the issue.

Changed my mind about having these WIP PRs open, since I have not had the chance to actively work on a fix. Feel free to pick this up if you are interested in contributing.
