looking to 1-2 more people to make the Anti-Wikipedia #26

[edit: A member had t odrop off my team so I have 1 opening.]

You know how Neil deGrasse Tyson says there's 3 type of truths: personal truths, political truths with are true because they are repeated often, and Scientific Truths, which are true because people have done experiments and they accurately explain the results.

We want to remove Political truths by making an Anti-Wikipedia. the opposite of "We speak for god" authoritative source of truth approach of Wikipedia and a be a repository for people's opinions and everything will be trace able back to the original research that lead to it.

The MVP we're making for the spring lab is a real-time collaborative concept mapping/wiki that lives of the P2P cloud. after that we are going to work on a gamafied social sim.

IF you're wondering where the 'Power of Porn' comes in we are going to embrace the fact that users will use our MMO to have CyberSex and use that drive to get people to engage with other people. The same way god/Darwinian Evolution uses sex to build strong relations between it's participants.

Forgot to mention we are especial look for people that know/are already motivated to lean website development in JavaScript or Panda3d development in Python or non coding skills(like marketing/brand building) Familiarity with (py)gundb are Isis are a plus.

Some useful links pygundb: https://github.com/xmonader/pygundb

Hey @DrAlta, I am Bhuwan Chandra, an undergrad BTech student in Computer Science and Engineering. I am a full stack developer, I have built some full-stack applications. I have the knowledge of Full Stack development within MERN and MEAN stack and I had also worked with PHP, MySQL database, Firebase and REST APIs. also, I have some android development experience with Java. I am looking to join a team and would love to work on their idea. Feel free to reach out to me, anytime! https://www.linkedin.com/in/bhuwan-chandra-baurai-760288178/

DrAlta commented 4 years ago

Ok @BhuwanChandra is the 4th person to want to join my team. So unless you realy want to join my project and continue with it in your free time after the Spring lab is over you should probably look for another project

Could you give some links why Wikipedia is... not ideal?

DrAlta commented 4 years ago

As Tom Scott titled one of his talks at the Royal Institute There is No Algorithm for Truth.

AS Megan Philps-Roper said, "Once I saw that we were not the ultimate arbiters of divine truth but flawed human beings, I couldn't pretend otherwise."

Wikipedia is a repository of 'political truths' as Neil deGrasse Tyson puts it. and Political truths are well political and have no regard for objective truth. Wikipedia tries to be the arbiter of divine truth(They say they are only the intermediary, repeating what someone else claimed to be the divine truth but they don't let just repeat everything that anyone claims to be the divine truth) and it lack the linkage to the original research that ("It was reported in the New York Times that someone says X" not "In the New York Times it was reported that Bob said X" and theirs no effort to look up the sources cited in the citations used on the Wikipedia)

Where's the mention of the classification of emotions given by The Li Chi, The Stoics, René Descartes, Baruch Spinoza, Thomas Hobbes, Silvan Tomkins?

THey where their in https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Emotion_classification&oldid=506153470

Is that an example of vandalism? or is it Wikipedia deciding of who's truth should be taught and who's truth should be hidden?

kelvinsekx commented 4 years ago

Hi, I am Kelvin and a web expert. How can I join the team??

DrAlta commented 4 years ago

@kelvinsekx You have experience with gundb or pygundb? I thought mozilla wanted teams of 4-6 but it looks like 4 is the max so probably won't be able to add you to the team for the spring lab(thou I could replace one of the current members if someone has more experience).

I'm always looking for volenteers to work on my project outside the spring lab. I have $50 a month to pay a developer or 2 and am planing a crowd funder after the spring lab to hire a dev full/part time. I'm planning on $20 an hour.

aakashbaranwal commented 4 years ago

@DrAlta I am a full stack web developer with a 5 month internship experience in Web development in Django (python and javascript). I am interested to join your team.

kelvinsekx commented 4 years ago

Thanks so much DrAlta, I do not have experience with gundb or pygundb. But I would surely get to know more about it. Thanks for that again. Also, on the volunteers, I would be glad to see your project and how I can volunteer. I could volunteer for free, but the project would be the motivating factor.

DrAlta commented 4 years ago

@aakashbaranwal you interested in joining the long term, non-FTI spring team?

@aakashbaranwal and @kelvinsekx Look at https://github.com/benjis/gundb-messaging-app (or not) and try to make a simple chat programs one in python(using pygundb) and the other a webapp in JavaScript that communicate with each other.

@kelvinsekx There are two sides to my project the gamafifed Social Sim and the Concept mapping. The Concept mapping is basically just recreating Compendium I was going to develop Dialogue Mapping to a broader context but Rooksby, Sommerville, and Pidd did it already

I think that and the FTI pitch is pretty much all their is to say about that side.

The gamafied Social Sim is going to be like a multi player Prom Week But instead of the simplistic model of motivations used by Prom Week, we'll use the more detailed model of psychsim which has Theory of Mind which allowed for much deeper social simulations. psychsim also allows programming by example. The prototype game for it is monster collecting but you'll have to form Intimate relationship with the monsters in order to get them on your team(and you'll have to maintain the relationship to keep them from leaving your team). There will also be a scheduling life sim, you're pick what activity your chars will be doing each hour of the day then each activity with be played out like a level of Prom Week(micro level). I'm planing on basing the hourly sim(macro level) on talktown . I'll broaden the PromWeek social sim with the Siboot social sim then once the micro and macro.

http://toohna.ourproject.org/RPG/index.php?title=YMO_Prototype_Design_Doc has the basic game play loop.

Then after we got the engine down we'll start to work on the authoring tool to make it easy to make social sim

I plan on making a concise representation of the PieceWise Linear functions used by psychsim and and have the code editor show a shot desc for the variable/function on mouse over and the ability to rightclick on them and bring up the anti-wikipedia article about the variable/function.

That's the piece's but the whole is harder to say how it will work. We'll follow god's/Darwinian evolution's example and use (cyber)sex to get people to form emotional bonds. Plus Second Life and LambdaMoo proved that people will use your online socialization platform for Cybersex so you might as well embrace it and SL's cybersex withe keystone of SL's economy so it's a proven option to get people to use you're socialization platform and get out on it and get to know new people.

There' will be lot of social engineering to set up the culture of the users which I'm still researching how to go about.
