Crowdcaring Platform -- [LOOKING FOR React Native or other mobile web development framework] #63

Project Name

Crowdcaregiving - a platform to coordinate caregiving tasks among people close to a dependent person. The inability of some nursing homes to provide minimally appropriate care during the coronavirus outbreak is expected to leave a profound impact in families, increasing preference for at-home caregiving and consequently making a platform like this more relevant.

What you're looking for

We are looking for a React Native or other mobile development framework. Having ruby/rails backend experience is a plus. Alternatively a person with HTML/CSS/JS with a desire to learn React Native or other mobile development framework.

Short Project Description

Due to aging or physical/mental health issues, temporarily or permanently dependent people and their households have daily, weekly, and punctual caregiving needs. Usually, virtually all these needs are covered almost exclusively by a single primary caregiver, often leading to caregiver burnout. Primary caregivers find that relying on a network of friends and relatives to alleviate the burden of these tasks can be almost as stressful as doing everything by themselves, as the mental load from administering multiple small contributions can be a burden of its own. We seek to build a platform that makes it easy to configure the caregiving needs of a dependent person in a calendar of periodic task instances; let volunteer caregivers book one or several of these instances; execute them; and leave photos and checklists as proof of task completion. Tasks will comprise needs such as: keeping company to the dependent person, administering medication, ensuring treatment adherence, preparing meals, cleaning up the house, shopping and other household chores, taking the dependent person to the doctor and updating treatment schedule, or running checklists to keep a record of the evolution of physical and cognitive capabilities. Task-specific multimedia contents and links will help “crowd caregivers” execute the tasks correctly.
