The repository supports PIDs for authors, funders, institutions, funding programmes and grants, and other relevant entities.

PID is a persistent identifier, so @jonathansberry thinks the fact that you can use user and organisation IDs interchangeably with their name satisfies this requirement.

However, we should investigate ckanext-attribution as it allows us to add things like ORCID and other affiliation information.
