Plant fakes (instances of the PSF model, appropriately scaled) as single- or double-point-sources near galaxy centers.
modified diff images should not overwrite the old
Modify the headers of the diff images to indicate where each fake was planted
also write out info to a flat catalog file (later a SQL db) that records the fake source info

Recycle code from FK's LSST DESC project if possible.
