Icons not appearing at all on Ubuntu 22 #3405

Flameshot Version

Flameshot v11.0.0 (11.0.0-2 Debian) Compiled with Qt 5.15.2

Installation Type

Linux, MacOS, or Windows Package manager (apt, pacman, eopkg, choco, brew, ...)

Operating System type and version

Ubuntu 22.04

Description

I am trying to make a simple screenshot, I have installed the app on Ubuntu 22 and it seems to work. I do not however see any of the icons after pressing Print screen, no matter how I change the config, also after pressing enter the file is saved locally and I am unable to upload it.

Am I missing something or this is a bug?

sudo apt install flameshot flameshot gui No icons appear around the selected area with my mouse

Thanks for filing the bug report. Here are few points that I would be thankful if you go through them:

Point 1

I have a hunch that this is the first time you are using Gnome Wayland or the first time you are using Flameshot, and I guess what you are experiencing is the following window. If so, read the following link:

Please let me know if this address your issue or you are experiencing a different issue

Point 2

You are using Flameshot v 11.0.0 which is couple of years old. We suggest you to install the latest version (v12.1.0). It seems that Ubuntu 22.04 does not ship later versions of Flameshot. Therefore I suggest you to install our latest version via Snap or Flatpak which you can find instructions here:

Point 3

You didn't provide your "Display Server Protocol" in the information you provided (you wrote "3. Not sure"). If you are interested to know a but more, I can suggest you this link:
