8 years ago Idea: Maybe we should avoid human sounds all together. How about using animal growls/grunts? I think something aggressive like that would fit a "war cry". It could also be thought of as the hero channeling an inner being. As an example, I bet we could sample some of these sea lions to create an interesting sound.
Having power sounds based on the hero's base type is asking for major complications. It's male/female in Flare-game but that doesn't always have to be the case: a game could do man, woman, dwarf, elf, robot base characters.
I think there's a more clever way to handle this, by mixing several voices of different pitch into the same sound effect. It'll sound more unearthly, more choir-like, and fit well enough for the style of power and for varying base character types.
