NetworkManager update to 1.44.2 breaks ProtonVPN on Ubuntu 20.04 #147

The update from 1.40.18 to 1.44.2 (commit 959cd839) broke the ability to make VPN connections, as dns-data doesn't exist. Would it be possible to somehow detect the host version of NetworkManager, rather than hard coding a specific version? I know something similar exists for Nvidia drivers within flatpak, but I don't know enough about how flatpak works yet to implement it myself. Rolling back to eba86970 on my system works for now (until flatpak tries to auto-update again).

That's sad. NetworkManager doesn't make itself backward compatible.

Any particular reasons that you stay on Ubuntu 20.04? Because it's an LTS?

Anyway, I'll rollback that change.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I stay on Ubuntu 20.04 mainly for Nvidia Deepstream support for work (they still don't support 22.04).

In the meantime, I'll try to learn more flatpak dev to see if there's a nicer workaround.
