Incredibly laggy experience with new update #1299

Problem description With the new update released yesterday, the performance has become incredibly bad. The UI is very laggy, all animations are stuttery, and even scrolling is delayed. This applies to all views like store or library, where say the hovering animation on the game cards is laggy. On top of that, if a window is present (Steam is not minimized to the tray) it even slows down animations on the system. So, e.g. animations in the browser are also sluggish.

I checked the terminal output and there are no mentions of any errors or similar. All hardware acceleration features are turned on in the Flatpak and apt version.

Does this issue reproduce with native Steam No, the version installed with apt works flawlessly.

Actually, I just checked again and made a mistake. It seems like the apt version had GPU accelerated rendering in web views disabled by default. That did indeed fix the Flatpak version as well. This means that should probably be reported upstream to the steam-for-linux repo. Is that right?
