Update #27

Closed FuchtelJockel closed 3 years ago

FuchtelJockel commented 3 years ago

Update because of flatpak related upstream fix for jami-daemon. Tried to build the canberra-gtk-module but the gnome sdk doesn't support gtk2 anymore.

@FuchtelJockel Hi. Thank you very much for your very hard efforts to make this flatpak package alive again !

I did not understood ! What this mean ? Do we will see the camera finally working in Jami flatpak next release or not ?

FuchtelJockel commented 3 years ago

It should be on par with the official releases, #25 fixes camera support and #26 adds hw acceleration and adaptive resolution. I opened a issue upstream to hopefully remove the last jami-daemon patch.

@FuchtelJockel Dear I read the following "Previews work with manually started dring but not with dbus activation." written by you. What this mean? Do this mean that to use camera we have to run specific command in terminal? Do you fix this issue or still need manual enabling by user?

FuchtelJockel commented 3 years ago

If you read further you would see that this is old and never actually hit the main branch. Video should work without any fiddling.

@FuchtelJockel Hi. It does not work on my system, but there is a hope for that !

I re-install Jami flatpak package from scratch since I was loss any hope in this flatpak. The package crash on my system when try to activate camera whether by video call or from "setting" > media. In both cases the camera laptop LED switched on for sec then application crashed !

Is there a hope to fix this finally ?

My system is: Lenovo ThinkPad e550 with Fedora Linux 32 X64 bit Cinnamon edition. specifications of my hardware are: Intel core i7 5500 CPU @ 2.40 GH X 2, RAM = 8 GB, HHD = 1 TB, Hybrid VGA (Intel Corporation HD Graphic 5500 + Radeon R7 M265 2GB)

Please use the issue feature it exists for a reason. I can say it worked on my laptop when testing it and still does. I don't need your hw specs a good log would be much more appreciated. Just run flatpak run net.jami.Jami to see the log.

@FuchtelJockel I gave you log - see: https://github.com/flathub/net.jami.Jami/issues/4
